Too Late: Judge Wortham Has Second Thoughts On New Courthouse Security System

“I have always believed that this was the people’s courthouse. And with that said, I think we are spending a whole lot of taxpayers’ money when we’ve never had any real sense of danger here. The taxpayers built this building and they should not be hampered in their ability to use it. It is their courthouse. I don’t see where we need the degree of security that we’ve gone to. I think it was the right move to put two bailiffs in the criminal and domestic-relations courts but this security plan, with the searches and metal detectors and X-ray machine — the taxpayers are paying for all of this.”
----58th District Court Judge Bob Wortham quoted from the Beaumont Examiner 12/14/08

So where was Judge Wortham these two when the Court Jester along with the rest buffoni that make up Jefferson County's Commissioners Court hatched the plan for courthouse security earlier this year? Why didn't he speak up then?

After Ford Park, the fiasco with the baseball fields, the money the County spent on four new boats outfitted with machine guns they the County can't afford to man or run, the County money making scheme that charged people for a sticker to put on their license so they could return to the County post hurricane that wasn't required for re-entry for either of the two September evacuations, the unflattering public temper tantrum of Judge Walker during a press conference following Hurricane Ike, the screw up and cover up of some incorrect elevations in LaBelle that is now costing tax payer money to buy out the unwitting homeowners, you'd think everyone, EVEN DEMOCRATS, would now realize the County can't get anything right.
